From 2014 - 2016 all 17 K-5 Oxnard School District students  received a minimum of 7 music classes--thanks to the generous support of Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Foundation and matching funds from the Oxnard School District.  OMAG interviewed several candidates and chose  experienced charismatic music teachers to send the schools resulting in more than 17,000 students receiving a minimum of seven classroom music lessons.

This pilot was named  the Oxnard Music & Arts Project or  "OMAP".

After all school had received their free music classes, some principals saw the value of continuing so with their faculties committed funds to sustain the OMAG music teacher at their school for the 2016-17 school year.

For the 2017-18 school year, two schools, Harrington and Chavez schools made the decision to hire a full time music teacher and and additional five schools invited OMAG teachers back to their schools.

In 2018-19 OMAG teachers taught music classes at the following schools: Elm, McKinna, Rose, and Soria.

Currently for the 2019-2020 school year two more schools have added full time music teachers--Elm and Marshall where music piano labs were also built and equipped. More schools will be adding music teachers and piano labs. OMAG's presence may have helped this gradual appearance of full time classroom music teachers.
